RE-Cycled Glass

A great way to spend time is strolling along a beach, collecting rocks, shells, and seaglass. I would envision making jewelry from the treasures I found, but they were always the wrong size, color, or shape. Thus, I taught myself to cut, polish, and create holes in glass.

I have a large collection of old vases, dishes, and plates. I smash them into pieces and refine the shapes before I start the lengthy process of tumbling them to create new beautiful items.

A piece has been tumbled at least four times and each tumble takes 2 to 5 days. Then it’s time to set the glass using traditional metalworking techniques.

This little blue house began life as a drinking glass. I folded a single sheet of copper around the glass creating the roof and shruberies. The windows are folded back to create the hook for the chain. The result is a charming copper pendant.

$60.00

The yellow flower pendant comes from the neck of a hummingbird feeder. The tendrils are made from twisted scrap wire, with balled ends to secure the glass. It is shown with a 18” omega chain.
