RE-used Silverplate
Secondhand stores are full of old silverplated plates, bowls, and chafing dishes. Seeing those old wedding gifts, still beautiful, but too formal for today, made me want to rescue them. The jewelry on this page reuses many of those silver-plated items.
Many times the silverplate is dented and/or scratched. You may see a yellowish hue, which is the brass substrate showing through. Care must be taken when cleaning these pieces to guard against further thinning the plating.
Clean using a non-contact method like the aluminum-baking soda method described on the Cleaning page. Or you can enjoy the tarnish as it appears and embrace the changing look of these unique pieces.
These shiny blue earrings are created from a recycled silverplate tray and a blue gift card. They are held together in a silver bezel and come with silver earnuts.

This pendant is similar to the blue earrings; it is made from the same silverplated tray but has a striking black and sparkly red gift card. It is displayed with a black rubber cord, but you can swap it with an omega chain.

This cuff is crafted from a retired silverplated food-warming dish. To make it more stable, slotted sterling silver wires were joined to the cuff's edges. You might notice traces of brass underneath when you examine the cuff's ends.
